2 days in Dublin with a 18 months baby?

In august I will be travelling in Ireland with my husband and my baby (18 months in august). We’ll be spending 2 days in Dublin, we have a private hostel room in temple bar. Can anyone who lives in Dublin tell me if it’s unwise to overnight in that area? Is it too crowded and noisy, or can we manage it? Which are the best parks in town where we can spend a couple of hours a day and let the little one play and relax? Is it a problem eating out (and not spending 100€…) for dinner? I’ve read on LP Guide that many restaurants/pubs do not allow kids at evening… do you have any suggestions (ie names and addresses of places in the city center; we will rent a car, but only when we leave dublin). Is the nappy-changing matter going to be a problem?

Long story short… A friend of mine and his family are coming to Chicago next week (Thu – Tue) to see family and visit me. His class got rescheduled at the last min and he is being told he has to be in class on Friday AND Monday so they would, basically, either have to cancel the trip OR send him back by rail so he can go to class while they stay in Chicago and then they all go back to Ohio as a family.

I know NOTHING about rail travel other then Metra Rail here in the Chicago-Land Area.

Can someone please help me look this info up?

I have a hard time using the “L” here in Chicago without getting lost… I don’t want to somehow ship him off to Canada!
